IMAGINE THIS INTERVIEW WITH PILOT

I was wondering - what would happen if a clueless reporter who knew next to nothing about the Captain Power universe were given an assignment to interview Corporal Jennifer “Pilot“ Chase? Here is the answer! Hope you enjoy.

Clueless Reporter:

Hi, Jennifer! So, uh, you are Corporal Jennifer Pilot Chase, right? That’s the character who flies stuff, like… planes and spaceships? Or was she more of a car mechanic? It’s all a bit blurry to me. Anyway, thanks for agreeing to this interview with me today!

Pilot Chase:

(Laughs) Well, I’m glad to be here! Pilot was actually a technician, but yes, she could fly aircraft and drive pretty much anything that had wheels or an engine, including tanks, boats, and—well, I suppose anything that required some serious tech know-how.

Clueless Reporter:

Ah, so, like a mechanic! Got it. So, this whole Captain Power thing… it’s about a bunch of people who fight bad guys, right? Like, a group of soldiers, maybe? I didn’t quite understand the whole “Metal Wars” thing. Are they robots, or like, cyborgs? And do you ever, like, punch the bad guys in the face?

Pilot Chase:

(Laughing, tries to hold back) Not exactly. The Metal Wars refers to a conflict between humanity and an oppressive regime led by Lord Dread, who’s kind of the big baddie in the show. The team—Captain Power and us, his soldiers—are fighting against the Bio-Dread Empire, which is full of evil machines, not necessarily robots you can just punch in the face, although that has happened. And, I once saw the Captain lift a Bio-Mech over his head and toss it into a pool of burning acid.

Clueless Reporter:

Really? Oh, so, it’s like Transformers but without the transforming, huh? I see! And Lord Dread, he’s a… bad guy? With a name like that, I’m guessing he’s evil. Like, really evil, right?

Pilot Chase:

(Laughs, rolling her eyes) Yep, you’ve got it. His name is a bit of a giveaway, don’t you think? He’s a megalomaniac who rules a terrifying empire that’s trying to take over the world. And we’re fighting back, trying to save humanity. Including people like you.

Clueless Reporter:

Right, right. Thanks, by the way. So, Pilot—your character—was like the tech expert, huh? So, you spent the whole time fixing things? I mean, that sounds really… exciting. But do you get, like, cool gadgets? I’m thinking more James Bond than Techie Fix-It Girl. Did you have a cool gadget?

Pilot Chase:

(Laughing) Well, Pilot did get some cool toys! The top one was the Proton Spanner. It was this high-tech tool, sort of like a cross between a power screwdriver and a power wrench, but it had some serious firepower. So, no Bond gadgets, but definitely some nifty, powerful tools for saving the day. She was also about brains not just gadgets, though.

Clueless Reporter:

A wrench with firepower?! That’s... uh, an interesting choice for a gadget! And here I was thinking Pilot was just, like, maybe flying spaceships. But no, you’ve got to fight evil machines! I’ll be honest, I’m still trying to wrap my head around the whole fighting machines thing. Are these evil machines like, you know, vacuum cleaners that suck up people’s brains, or more like Terminator robots with guns?

Pilot Chase:

(Smiling, holding back laughter) We did our flying in subspace to be honest, and did not engage the enemy in space battles. And to be clear, it’s a little more Terminator and a lot less vacuum cleaner. These were advanced war machines we were up against that were designed to control humanity. The “Bio-Dread” part of the name kind of tells you that they were a mix of technology and something more sinister. It was about humans fighting back against this oppressive empire.

Clueless Reporter:

Aha, so Terminator, but with less Arnold Schwarzenegger and more, uh… wrench-wielding women? Cool! And speaking of women, you were the only female member of the team. Was that awkward at all, being the lone lady in a bunch of Captain Power-ed up, power-suited guys? Like, did they let you in on the manly stuff, or did you have to prove yourself?

Pilot Chase:

(Laughs) Arnold Schwarzenegger - oh, you mean Tank Ellis! You need to interview him, too. You know, with the guys it actually wasn’t awkward at all. Pilot was very much one of the team, and she was treated as an equal player. They let me be part of everything—fighting, strategizing, and sometimes saving the day when things went south. She wasn’t just there to add diversity or be the “girly” character; she was indispensable to the team.

Clueless Reporter:

Oh, yeah, I get it. You were, like, the brains of the operation. They needed someone who knew how to, uh, ‘push buttons’ or whatever, right? You’re like the team’s tech genius. Was there a moment when the guys were, like, "Oh no, we’re totally screwed... unless Pilot saves the day!"?

Pilot Chase:

(Laughing, rolling her eyes) Well, pretty much every episode, haha! Pilot did have to get them out of sticky situations on occasion, using her tech skills and, you know, her insider knowledge of the enemy, plus quick thinking. But the Captain was our leader for a reason, and we all pitched in as we were able. Without me, perhaps one of the others could have stepped up, like Scout, but not totally.

Clueless Reporter:

Gotcha! So, Pilot’s the MacGyver of the team, but in a Power Suit, huh? I mean, I’m pretty sure all that high-tech stuff made the whole “saving the world” thing easier. It’s like, just throw some wires together, hit a button, and BOOM! You’re a hero!

Pilot Chase:

(Laughs so hard she almost loses her composure) Well, it wasn’t quite THAT easy, but you’re kind of right. The Power Suit definitely helped, but the brains and heart were what made the team work. It wasn’t just about pushing buttons—it was about making the right decisions under pressure.

Clueless Reporter:

Oh, so it’s kind of like being the quarterback of a football team, except with fewer passes and more, uh, wrenching and saving the world from evil machines? Got it!

Pilot Chase:

(Laughing) Sure, let's go with that analogy. If you imagine the football field full of evil machines trying to destroy humanity, then yes, you could say it that way.

Clueless Reporter:

Awesome! So, finally, before we wrap up, what’s the one thing you’d want people to know about Pilot that maybe they don’t get right away?

Pilot Chase:

I think some people overlook how much Pilot went through emotionally. She kept a lot bottled up inside, had to. Sure, she was tech-savvy and could help save the day, but she also had a pretty heavy past that she was dealing with. The whole story of her redemption and how she learned to trust again was a huge part of who she was. She wasn’t just a sidekick or a cool fighter—she was someone trying to make up for her past mistakes and carve out a new life. Plus, she admired her boss, Captain Power, who gave her the chance at a new life by getting her away from Dread.

Clueless Reporter:

Oh! So it’s like... Deep Space Nine but with more wrenching and less space? And maybe a budding relationship?  Cool, cool.

Pilot Chase:

(Snorts, trying to suppress laughter) Sure, let’s go with that too.

Clueless Reporter:

Alright, thanks for the interview, Pilot! And just remember, when the machines start taking over, I’ll be sure to call you first... to fix my vacuum.

Pilot Chase:

(Laughing) I’ll be ready with the Proton Spanner! Thanks for the chat.
